Residing in New York, Danish saxophone player Kim Bock is making his debut as a leader with ”The Tunnel”. After many years of paying dues as a sideman (including a 6 month stint with legendary Maynard Ferguson in 2001), Kim took in February 2002 his New York-based quartet to the studio and recorded this outstanding set of original post-bop jazz. All top notch performers, the quartet’s other members;Sila Cevikce on piano, Adam Armstrong on bass and Kresten Osgood on drums provide solid support throughout. Kim’s fresh sound and thoughtful musicianship is thriving on these ear-grabbing originals written by himself and pianist Cevikce. |
